The Derby Evening Telegraph publishes a column by RamsTrust every week on Tuesdays on its dedicated Derby County website. and the Trader Group of free newspapers publishes a weekly column by RamsTrust.

Derby recently demonstrated ambitious schemes to World Cup representatives; if successful, Derby County’s owners would achieve their dream of producing a global sporting ‘brand’. It is estimated that the tournament could bring £200m to the region, as the commercial and sporting benefits would extend far beyond the football club.

I attended Northampton Crown Court on Friday to listen to the personal mitigation put forward by the barristers for those who stand convicted and it was fascinating.

At the recent Chelsea v West Ham game it was apparent that many of the fans had reached the end of their tether with Luiz Felipe Scolari. Chants and boos were supplemented with placards demanding his head following Chelsea's poor run of form. Almost inevitably, Scolari has paid the price and Roman Abramovich is looking for another manager. Is this a case of fan power?

We learnt last week that Nigel Clough has removed all the so-called ‘inspirational quotes’ from the walls of Moor Farm citing, among other reasons that ‘most footballers can’t read anyway’. It’s perhaps just as well that Charles N’Zogbia is not a Derby player because he would have taken offence at that for sure!).
