Jacqui Forster

RamsTrust is proud to have played a significant role in supporting the Justice4Jac campaign as Jacqui was its link with Supporters Direct for 12 years.

Supporters Direct (SD) has stated it will pay the salary of its longest-serving employee, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer last year. The organisation initially stopped payment to Jacqui Forster, who had been working there for 13 years, after her statutory sick pay allowance expired in September.

SD – which helps fans to set up democratic co-operatives (known as supporters’ trusts) to gain influence in the running and ownership of their clubs – made the u-turn after defending its reluctance to pay out earlier by saying it was forced to “do more with less” financially. Ms Forster has now received her back pay from June to December 2016.

A Justice4Jac campaign was set up by former SD directors and trust members, which urged the business to continue to pay Ms Forster, and a Just Giving page raised almost £2,000 in two months from nearly 50 supporters. Ms Forster intends to use the monies raised to set up a legacy campaign to encourage more women to attend sporting events. While welcoming the turnabout, the Justice4Jac group has called on those who voted to stop the pay to resign.

“Supporters Direct should never just rely on legislation in how it deals with urgent matters. Instead, the organisation should be helping Jacqui as she deals with a dreadful situation,” said a statement.

“We raise this because we want everyone in football who knows Jacqui Forster to show her their support and equally make their own judgment about her employer who, in our view, has let her down disgracefully.”

SD chair Brian Burgess said at the time: “We note that former SD board members have publicly aired concerns about recent board decisions relating to a member of SD staff.

“We hope, however, that members will understand that we seek to act at all times in the best interests of all SD members, all SD staff, and the entire supporters trust movement.”

Robert Pepper, who is involved in the Justice4Jac campaign, has resigned as the SD reciprocal member of the Football Supporters Federation National Council because of the initial decision to stop Ms Forster’s salary.

Overreaction
Latest
Monday, January 19 2015

After the disappointing and unexpected defeat by our local rivals from down the A52 Brian Clough Way on Saturday, a 'supporter' ran on the pitch and appeared to attack a Forest player. There was also video footage of so-called Derby fans damaging the car belonging to Forest's Chairman.

RamsTrust was asked to comment on this behaviour by the Derby Telegraph. Chair Jim Wheeler said there was “no excuse” for a fan to invade the pitch after Derby's defeat.

Jim also said that he hopes the incident will be “the last we see of this type of behaviour” and he joined other Rams fans in condemning the behaviour of the pitch invader.

He said: “The football violence of the past has largely, and thankfully, gone from the game and what the pitch invader did is completely indefensible.

“While I think we all appreciated that it was a local derby against Forest with emotions running high – especially with them winning the game in injury time – there is still absolutely no excuse for this type of behaviour.

“What I thought was interesting was how so many Derby fans were sharing the man’s picture on social media in a bid to help the police.

“Hopefully, Saturday will be the last we see of this type of behaviour at all and I would assume if he is charged and prosecuted he will be banned from attending matches for a very long time.”

RamsTrust also condemns attacks on cars and any sort of disorder which brings shame on our great club.

The RamsTrust board is deeply sorry to report the unexpected, untimely and sudden death of our webmaster, Steve Tickle in November at the age of 59.

Steve attended the inaugural public meeting of those interested in forming a trust in October 2002 and when it was resolved to form a supporters trust he immediately offered his services as webmaster and keeper of mailing lists.

Prior to 2002 Steve had been a weekly writer for well respected Derby County fan site RamZone with his 'Tickle Tackle' column offering his often quirky views on DCFC. He continued his writing for a few years after the formation of the trust but later devoted more time to his webmaster duties.
