A Little Patience
The RamsTrust Column

I believe that it was those great philosophers, Guns N' Roses, who told us that 'All it really needs is a little patience'. As Nigel Clough completes his first year as manager of Derby County, we should heed greatly those words.

Steve Tickle
Wednesday, January 07 2015

The RamsTrust board is deeply sorry to report the unexpected, untimely and sudden death of our webmaster, Steve Tickle in November at the age of 59.

Steve attended the inaugural public meeting of those interested in forming a trust in October 2002 and when it was resolved to form a supporters trust he immediately offered his services as webmaster and keeper of mailing lists.

Prior to 2002 Steve had been a weekly writer for well respected Derby County fan site RamZone with his 'Tickle Tackle' column offering his often quirky views on DCFC. He continued his writing for a few years after the formation of the trust but later devoted more time to his webmaster duties.

Prior to entering politics, Chris was a bricklayer and a social worker among other jobs.

Recently, Shadow Minister for Sport Clive Efford announced that a future Labour Government would encourage supporter participation in football club boardrooms with representation from the trust associated with the club. Chris Williamson was delighted to be a part of this commitment and offered to write an article for RamsTrust on the subject.

The global financial crisis is giving us plenty of pain to work through – and the world of football will have to face up to the new realities that are now confronting everyone.

Top level football has grown rich on its TV money in recent years, but not everything is as rosy as it once was when we all actually attended games to see them in their entirety. Back then, Match of the Day and other programmes featured only edited highlights; only major European games and internationals were screened from start to finish. But in this multi-channel, subscription sport era, are we now beginning to realise that watching football on TV is difficult?

The furore over the joint most blatant handball of all time has only lessened slightly this week amid certainties that the match will not now be replayed.
