Derby ‘Til I Die Book

Now on special offer at £5.00 - 50% off cover price!

Derby 'Til I Die BookDerby ‘Til I Die”, is chock-full of great Derby County moments, as told personally by Rams supporters. Dozens of fans, living in Derby or elsewhere in the world, aged from age 9 to 90 years, tell their favourite memories of being a Rams fan, with their recollections looking back to the 1920s and right up to the present day.

Derby ‘Til I Die’ is a really colourful read, packed with great stories and illustrated with photos that are all drawn from Derby’s fantastic football folklore. The book was entirely written BY Rams fans (and some much-revered club servants) FOR Rams fans.

The book was a community project undertaken by RamsTrust in partnership with The National Literacy Trust, The Department for Children, Schools and Families, Supporters Direct and The Football Foundation. RamsTrust distributed 600 copies of the book free of charge to local schools, libraries and youth & community organisations, and our involvement enabled die-hard fans to recount their wonderful Derby County memories.

Derby ‘Til I Die was incorporated into this national literacy project, which aimed to encourage youngsters to read and write by engaging them in stories about their football club. The idea was to show that everyone can be a writer; the great memories about the Rams also provide fascinating stories that all Rams supporters will enjoy reading.

Tom Glick, Jim Smith and Paul Jewell provide introductory notes to all the great stories in there, including recollections from renowned club servants and members of ‘the team behind the team’, including Ernie Hallam, Gordon Guthrie and Marian McMinn.

It’s a great mix of funny, sad, whimsical and crazy stories recounted by fans that have followed Derby County through the decades. There’s baby Joshua, a season-ticket holder even before he was born, and Rockin’ Johnny Austin, who recorded a Derby County tribute song, and was awarded an MBE by the Queen many years later for his fundraising work.

The Derby ‘Til I Die stories are accompanied by dozens of rare personal archive photos, which ensure that this community project also yielded a unique record of sporting social history and an officially endorsed Rams collectors’ item.

The book now costs only £5.00 and is available by mail order by clicking on the PayPal Buy Now button below.
