4 March 2024 rt4

Location: Outside of Prague.

Members here: Only myself that I know of (I am listed as the contact for CZ with the DCFC International Supporters Group).

Day Job: Retired

How I became a Ram: My Mother and Aunt used to go together to all the home matches and occasionally away (my Aunt and Granddad were at the 1946 FA Cup Final incidentally). My Dad was in the Special Police Force and was always on traffic duty before and after games. He was then allowed access to the ground five minutes after the start of the game, but had to leave five minutes before the end. Because of my family tradition, I was a Ram from a very young age but after begging and becoming insufferable over time, I was finally allowed to go with them for the first occasion in February 1962 against Plymouth Argyle, result 2-2. Despite the draw, I was very happy that day as my first Rams hero Bill Curry scored. From then on, I went with them regularly standing in the Normanton End, and becoming a season ticket holder.

Favourite game: I do have a number, including the Wembley Charity Shield win against West Ham, all the European Nights at the BBG, promotion days and all the games during the first season in the old First Division under Clough and Taylor. But the one that really stands out is the 3-1 League Cup win against Chelsea in October ’69. The noise and atmosphere inside the BBG was incredible that night with the great Dave Mackay leading us on to victory.

Favourite player: Over the years I have had many, but to choose one it would have to be ‘The King’ Kevin Hector.

What does the collapse of last month's proposed takeover really mean for #DCFC?

Last week, we published a new blog reflecting on the deal collapse, supporter and member reaction, and what it could mean for the club's future.
